Give the Difference Between Lasik and Laser Eye Surgery?
differences between Lasik Surgery and Laser Eye surgery? and which would be the best for me?
There are several different types of laser eye surgery. And there are different types of lasers that can be used in eye surgery depending upon what the surgeon is wanting to accomplish. For instance, the surgeon could use a yag laser to treat secondary cataracts. Or the surgeon could use an argon laser to perform iridotomies or possibly to treat leaking blood vessels in the retina. Or the surgeon could use an excimer laser to correct vision disorders such as near sightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. This is the laser you are probably referring to.

There are several types of laser eye surgery; The most common are listed below:
a) Laser Photocoagulation for Retinal Treatment
b) Yag Laser Capsulotomy for After Cataract treatment
c) Laser Treatment for Glaucoma
d) Laser Vision Correction
LASIK is a type of Laser Vision Correction Surgery. Obviously a) through c) are not alternatives for LASIK. So I suppose that was not really your question.
There are different types of laser vision correction surgery. One is LASIK, the other is PRK, a third (similar to PRK) is LASEK or Epi-LASIK. While this is confusing, LASIK is the most popular, and over 90% of all laser vision correction surgery is LASIK. PRK and Epi-LASIK have more post-operative pain, and a longer visual recovery. Generally, they should be done when the cornea is thin, or there is some surface corneal disorder. Otherwise, LASIK is perhaps the best alternative.

A laser is a tool that can be used several ways on the eye. The most logical question for you to have intended is to ask the difference between LASIK and PRK. The quick answer to that question is that LASIK has less pain and a quicker recovery time. PRK may give better long term results in some cases. The link below gives even better information.
