My husband had to have Lasik 3 times. His eyesight was so bad it was not correctable to 20/20 with contacts or glasses.

He said that Lasik does not hurt. It is uncomfortable because they clamp your eye open and there is a smell but not much as far as pain.

After the Lasiks, my husbands eyer are much drier. He now has to use eye drops (it’s been 3 years since the procedure). However, Lasik is worth the risk. My husband says he would do it again in a heartbeat.

I had Lasik not too long ago. It does not hurt. They do clamp your eye open and you can feel a sucking sensation when the machine comes down over your eye, but your eye is numbed and doesn’t feel pain.

It did not hurt at all afterward. I also have dry eyes, but for me the Lasik hasn’t made it any worse. You can always use eye drops.

I would do it again, no question.

My husband had LASIK…and I had PRK. He had dry eyes prior to his surgery and now, about 10 weeks out, he doesn’t need his artificial tears much anymore. It did make it a little worse initially, but as time went on, he went back to his baseline dryness.

I have dry eyes more due to allergies, but my PRK did make that worse for about a month…I’m now 7 weeks out and back to my baseline (til ragweed season!) I still use my artificial tears a couple of times a day, and have also started using some preservative free ointment my surgeon recommended at my 6 week followup since my allergies are starting up again. Follow your surgeon’s instructions on drops and ointments…you won’t be able to use the ointment for a while…I was just given the ok at my 6 week appointment last week.

Both he and I agree…there was no pain whatsoever. He said he did feel a little bit of pressure when the suction for the flap was going on, but that’s all it was…a little pressure.

His surgery took a total of 10 minutes…and mine took about 8.

You will feel some burning the first 2-4 hours…this is why your surgeon tells you to go home and get some sleep.

You will notice that you are VERY sensitive to sunlight for the first few days…and you will have to wear sunglasses, even in the house, the day of your surgery to help protect your eyes. You’re lucky…I had to wear sunglasses any time I was outside for a month..and actually just now am able to walk out to flip the burgers on the grill without my sunglasses…but I had light sensitivity before…almost back to normal.

While you are healing, your dry eye feeling will be kinda like a "sticky gritty" sensation…like dirty contacts…just use your artificial tears as often as you need to…this really helps.

I wish you the best of luck! You’ll be amazed at the difference. Just follow your surgeon’s postop instructions, take your medicated drops like you’re supposed to, do not let water get into your eyes for a week…and NO EYE RUBBING! :)

For my husband and I, having our LVC was the best decisions we could have made. Dry eyes and all.

Lasik is good and it helps a lot . No pain no glasses or contacts and it improves vision. The cost is around $3500 but there are many options also. You can pay monthly $48 and go. No interest and no downpayment for 18 months.

    "I medically need it"

there is not a person on the planet who "medically needs" lasik. that does not exist. lasik is purely elective. saying you "medically need" lasik is like saying you "medically need" rhinoplasty
